Single, double, and triple rolls
"Single roll" is a legacy unit of measure — roughly 36 sqft — left over from how wallpaper used to be packaged and priced. Almost nothing is physically sold at that size today. What actually ships to your door is usually a "double roll": one continuous roll of paper equal to two single rolls, commonly around 27 in wide by 33 ft long. Triple rolls exist but are far less common, mostly on select wide-format or commercial wallcovering lines. The naming is a pricing convention — always check the actual printed dimensions on the label rather than assuming from the name.
European roll sizes
European ("Euro") rolls are a different physical size altogether: typically about 20.5–21 in (52–53 cm) wide by roughly 33 ft (10 m) long — noticeably narrower than a standard US double roll. A narrower roll means more vertical strips are needed to cover the same wall width, so a room that needs, say, 8 US-width rolls may need more individual Euro-width rolls to cover the same perimeter, even though the total square footage is similar.
Why the difference matters for your order
Ordering by the wrong assumed roll size is one of the most common ways people under- or over-order wallpaper. If a listing says "3 double rolls per room" without specifying your actual room dimensions, that estimate is only valid for the exact room size the seller assumed — which is rarely yours. Calculating from your own measured perimeter and ceiling height against the specific roll dimensions you're buying is the only way to get an order that actually matches your room.
